At Triangle Pond Management, we’re passionate about restoring ponds and lakes to their full potential. Recently, we completed a nuisance vegetation control project that transformed a pond overrun with duckweed and watermeal into a pristine, picturesque water feature. The pond was completely covered with these invasive floating plants, creating an unsightly, dense green layer that disrupted the ecosystem’s balance. Left unchecked, duckweed and watermeal can quickly dominate a pond, affecting water quality and making it inhospitable for fish and other aquatic life.

Here’s a recent example of a dissipator rebuild project we completed in Charlotte. Dissipator repairs are a frequent issue we encounter on sites across North Carolina, especially where heavy stormwater flows cause damage. In this case, stormwater displaced the rip-rap stone beyond the flared end section and undercut the fabric, leading to erosion. If not addressed promptly, a minor repair can quickly turn into a much larger and more expensive issue.

The prime time for fish stocking has officially arrived! With the arrival of Fall, North Carolina experiences some of the best conditions for stocking ponds and lakes. The cooler temperatures make it easier to transport and acclimate new fish from their original habitat to their new home in your pond or lake.

At Triangle Pond Management, we’re passionate about turning ordinary backyards into extraordinary retreats. One of our recent pond design and construction projects involved transforming an unused space bordered by an existing rock wall into a stunning backyard pond, complete with a serene water feature.

The project began with a vision: to create a peaceful oasis that would serve as the focal point of the homeowner’s backyard. The space, which had been underutilized, was the perfect canvas for a pond that would complement the natural beauty of the surrounding rock wall.

Open air sand filters are a specialized type of Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) that stand out due to their unique design. Unlike bioretention cells, they lack plants, mulch, or turf, and are specifically maintained to remain vegetation-free on the surface. Recently, our team at Triangle Pond Management completed a project in Raleigh, North Carolina, where we addressed an open air sand filter that was failing to drain properly. This type of issue is not uncommon and typically occurs when these devices are not maintained correctly over time.
