Deer season is over, and most hunters put away their rifle to chase waterfowl or look forward to the spring turkey season. Even though it’s winter, there are still many opportunities for Triangle Pond Management’s Wildlife Management Division to help you make improvements on your property for better deer hunting next fall. Want a shooting lane cleared, a path cut in, or a food plot installed in an overgrown area? With deer season over, winter is a great time for our Forestry Mulching equipment to go to work for you to achieve your goals.

Maintaining a healthy fish population is one objective that most pond owners have in common. A great way to strengthen your forage base and create a balanced fish population is through supplemental feeding. Including an automatic fish feeder into your pond management approach will provide a secondary food source to grow your forage fish and will increase their survival and reproduction success. As bait productivity improves and a self-sustaining forage base is established, the pond’s fish population will become more balanced and the entire ecosystem will benefit.

With winter in full effect, your water garden is going to experience some ice buildup. Nothing to worry about! Keep your pump running constantly to keep the water circulating. This will keep your pond from completely freezing over allowing harmful gases to escape.

Taking a few steps this winter to manage your pond correctly can provide better fish production this spring. Adding lime and providing artificial structure are two important pond maintenance tips for pond owners to consider this winter.

As we move into fall, it is important to think about the health of our pond’s water. Aeration is a great way to ensure any water feature stays healthy. As leaves fall into the water and plants die back, nitrogen levels will increase. One of the best combatants for nitrogen is aeration.

It’s about time for those fall cleanouts with the season approaching and those leaves swooping down into your beautiful water features. No need to worry, Triangle Pond Management has all the tools and knowledge to keep your water garden looking pristine.

During this time of the year preventive maintenance is the best maintenance, such as adding a net before leaves or branches take over the pond. With the lower temperatures, fall becomes a safer environment to remove fish and reintroduce them to the pond once the cleanout is completed.

A full cleanout normally consists of:

It’s the time of year right now to get your crops in if you haven’t already. Soon the hunters and wildlife enthusiasts will be taking to the woods. Dove season will be on us soon, and right after that, early bow season will start for the white-tailed deer. We are currently offering a few specials to help kick off hunting season.

Recently we had the pleasure of building a water garden in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. This was the first water garden build for three of our employees: office manager Joshua Roark, repairs crew field supervisor Logan Green, and our new water garden technician Colby Pittman. Our water garden manager, Andrew Murphy, led the team.

This project provided an exceptional cross-training opportunity and the customer could not have been happier with the finished product. Andrew’s leadership and veteran knowledge helped immensely with the rookie crew. Logan’s exceptional work with the mini excavator made the digging process and boulder-moving a breeze. For Josh, this was an excellent opportunity to see what goes on in the field and learn the tools of the trade to better assist both current and future customers with their aquatic needs.

The water garden build was not without its work-arounds. Early into the dig process we had to move current irrigation lines or they would have been in the middle of the water feature. We used this minor setback to our advantage by trenching and setting both the irrigation line and the hose for the water feature in the same process. The customer could not have been happier with her beautiful new water garden and the outstanding service she received.

My name is Joshua Roark, I am the new office manager with Triangle Pond Management. I am currently an undergrad student at NC Wesleyan, in their adult studies program, double majoring in business administration and accounting. On July 17, 2015, I had the pleasure of marrying the love of my life Katherine Roark, we currently do not have any children, but we do have two pets a cat named Milly and a dog named Lexi. For the past six and a half years I have been in the distribution industry and prior to that I was a retail store manager with other various sales positions. I am excited to become a part of the Triangle Pond team and I look forward to the road ahead.

My name is Ezel Rodgers, I am one of the newest members of the Triangle Pond Management team. I am overly enthused at the opportunity to work for an outstanding company with tons of great employees. The past four and a half years of my life was spent at East Carolina University where I studied Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting. I am currently a single father to two lovely pet gold fish, Zek and Nemo. In my free time, I enjoy working out and going to the beach as much as possible. In the past, I have had extensive experience in landscaping and retail sales. I look forward to assisting the customers of Triangle Pond and getting to know them on a personal level.
