Goldfish and Koi can be a beneficial component of a pond’s ecosystem. To have a healthy pond there are five main components that are necessary: biological filters, mechanical filters, aquatic plants, substrate, and fish. Let’s think of our pond’s ecosystem as a big circle or the “Circle of Life”.

When you have a fountain in a pond, no matter if it is there for aesthetics or aeration and circulation, it is important to have a maintenance schedule for cleaning and upkeep. Without regular maintenance, the fountain float can start to grow algae that can be unsightly and a nuisance. The same algae can grow over the lights on the fountain making them appear as though they are not working. Also, algae can hide issues such as cracks or missing parts that keep the fountain functioning properly and afloat.

If you need to clear a large area of land on your property, utilizing a forestry mulcher is a fast and efficient way to do so. These machines are capable of cutting, clearing, shredding, and grinding vegetation to make quick work of overgrown areas.

We are proud to once again be a part of the annual Dixie Deer Classic held at the NC State Fairgrounds from March 4th-6th. Our Kid’s Fishing Rodeo is returning for another year of kids catching fish all weekend long! We will be stocking our onsite pond with fish; all children that participate will receive a prize*!

A client with the Executive Mansion reached out to us regarding a neglected waterfall on their property. The waterfall was a focal point for the landscape but had become severely overgrown and was leaking. The Triangle Pond team cleared the surrounding area of overbrush and debris and then disassembled, rebuilt, and extended the waterfall to allow a greater field of view.

One of our clients recently contacted us to remove a large amount of debris that had accumulated in front of the primary spillway at one of their ponds. By the time they called us, the built-up debris had raised the elevation of the pond by 8″ – 10″ causing it to back up into the residents’ yards.

Employee Spotlight: Meg Parrish, Compliance Specialist

Meg Parrish graduated from NC State’s Environmental Science program in 2019 and joined the Triangle Pond team in February 2020. She worked hard in the field as an aquatic maintenance technician before being promoted to the newly-created position of Compliance Specialist.

Deer season is over, and most hunters put away their rifles to chase waterfowl or look forward to the spring turkey season. Even though it’s winter, there are still many opportunities for Triangle Pond Management’s Land and Wildlife Management Services Division to help you make improvements on your property for better deer hunting next fall.
